Statutory Sick Pay changes 2026: what employers need to know about day-one SSP

Since 6 April 2026, Statutory Sick Pay has been payable from the first full day of sickness absence and the Lower Earnings Limit has been removed. SSP is now £123.25 a week or 80% of average weekly earnings, whichever is lower.
